The 2008 WSA Surfing Championships at Church Beach. At the final WSA event of 2008 Gibran Garcia claimed victories in the Men’s Open and Men’s 18-29 division, while Jose Velazquez took home the 2008 WSA Men’s Open crown after his consistently high-performance surfing throughout the year.

In the Men’s Open finals, Jose and Gibran competed against former profesional surfer and 1988 ASP’s Most Improved Surfer, Marty Thomas.
