Jose “Chuy” Velazquez

Jose is a surfer from San Blas who we consider to be the original Mex Uno rider. He pushed Jorge to take up shaping and continues to contribute with great feedback, helping Jorge refine his surfboard shaping skills.

A Tough Competitor

A highly competitive surfer, Jose that can be found surfing his way into the finals at many of the local San Diego-area and Northern Baja surf competitions. A consistent and well-rounded surfer, and a knack for finding the right waves at the right time make Jose a tough competitor, and he has the hardware to show for it.

When not competing in San Diego, Jose escapes to the warmer waters of Mexico in search of good waves and his favorite snack, the “Gansito” (try it if you are ever hungry and need an energy boost).
